Saturday, Dec 22nd, rides start at 10am, book reading at 11am $5 per child (free for CSA members)

Farmer Andrew's Reportcrew

This is just a quick pre-Christmas email to say Happy Holidays from the farm!  Thank you for making 2007 such a terrific year! It's hard to imagine the fields full of blooming sunflowers and tens of thousands of pounds of food while we are covered in a sheet of ice. Thank you to all the crew, work for shares, volunteers for all of your hard work. And thank you to all the CSA members who make it possible for the farm to run.

We also want to say goodbye to many of our crew members as we welcome new interns and farm staff for 2008. We are now interviewing interns for next season. We also want to say goodbye and thank you to Laura Davis, our Education Coordinator who will still be with the farm but will be pursuing other interests. Laura did a great job leading all ages through the farm. We will be posting for a new Education Coordinator in the next few weeks, so if you know someone who might be interested, please send them our way!

The Christmas share this week will include: Butternut Squash, Onions, Potatoes, Beets, Apples, Cranberries, Crimini Mushrooms, Grapefruit, Mesclun Mix, and Tomatoes. We also have Brussels Sprouts and fun citris fruits in stock, along with the standard root crops like Potatoes, Sweet Potatoes and Onions. Those of you who ordered Hams will be able to pick them up starting on Friday. Our new (and yummy!) "Free Bird" brand chickens have been selling very well and we'll have those available through the winter.

The farmstand is full of terrific holiday items, and again, as a special incentive to all 2007 and 2008 CSA Members, please visit the stand between now and January 1st for 10% off your bill.  As an alternative, you may choose to have this discount donated to Cuvilly Arts and Earth Center in Ipswich. We have lots of great gifts from local artisans and from fair trade sources, so please think of us for those hard to find, unique holiday gifts. This special discount will end when the new year begins, so hurry in!

The farmstand will begin "winter" hours next week: Fridays through Sundays from 9am - 5pm. We'll have our full assortment of great products and produce, so please come by. We'll also be doing some winter events, and will send out emails periodically to let you know what's happening at the farm.

Again, Happy Holidays and Best Wishes for a great 2008!
